Noveller. Hanne Marie Svendsen er bedst når hun er vild, makaber og sær.

Safterne sprøjter

Hanne Marie Svendsens spændvidde som novelleforfatter er enorm, hun skriver både om det lyriske og sarte, det sære og groteske, det sanselige og erotiske – og så mestrer hun den fine forvirringskunst, så vi aldrig helt ved, hvad der venter. Det fremgår tydeligt af dette udvalg af sytten historier fra årene 1982 til 2010.

Gyngende grund, hedder samlingen efter den nyeste novelle, der begynder nøgternt, fortsætter uhyggeligt og kulminerer mærkeligt (og tillad mig at ignorere handling til fordel for stemning), da en gammel mand blotter tænderne så hans ansigt bliver til en dyremaske stivnet i et hånligt grin – inden himlen bliver oversået med skyer i uheldsvangre naturmotiver.

Det er disse stemninger, jeg især vil huske Hanne Marie Svendsens kortprosa for – stemninger med lyd og lugt, som i skæbnenovellen Svineslagtning, der begynder som en historie om en journalists interview med en erhvervsleder og ender i en detaljeret beskrivelse af en gris, der bliver hængt op, skoldet og slagtet.

I novellen Dukkedamen udnytter Hanne Marie Svendsen sin velkendte fornemmelse for særheder på grænsen til magisk realisme. Historien handler om en litteraturforsker, der samler stof om en betydningsfuld, nu afdød forfatter.

Hun kommer på sporet af en kvinde, der kendte forfatteren, og hun besøger hende i en etværelses, hvor hun bor sammen med en masse porcelænsdukker, der alle har navn efter verdenslitteraturens store, afdøde kvindelige forfattere.

Jo, Hanne Marie Svendsen kan være fræk på den dannede måde. Men jeg kan bedst lide hende, når hun er vild, makaber og sær.
