I sidste uges forfatterinterview her i avisen forud for udgivelsen af Peter Adolphsens Små historier 3 kunne man læse, at forfatteren til sin fortrydelse fornemmer, at en lille grøn aktivist titter frem flere steder i teksterne. Grøn aktivisme og klimapolitisk bevidsthed er centrale temaer i disse års samtidslitteratur, så at der også findes en grøn aktivist i Peter Adolphsen, er i sig selv ikke så bemærkelsesværdigt. Men fortrydelsen er.
I interviewet sagde forfatteren, at han altid har bekendt sig til deep time-tanken (ideen om ‘dyb tid’ handler om jordens million- og milliardårige geologiske processer og deres betydning for klodens beboelighed for os mennesker), men at denne idé ikke skal slå over i nihilisme. Rotterne havde også overlevet i stort tal og blev en vigtig fødekilde for de overlevende mennesker, der nu boede under to tvillingesole, der tilsammen lyste 9 procent mere end den ene, gamle sol.”
Peter Adolphsen hægter ikke gerne sin antropocænbevidsthed om klodens kommende ubeboelighed op på et klassisk politisk-litterært engagement, deraf hans fortrydelse over den grønne aktivist. Det handler, tror jeg, om en trang til at stå frit og udenfor konventionerne, både litterært, politisk og personligt. Men fortrydelsen er sandsynligvis også ironisk, for den grønne aktivisme er ikke tilfældig.
Små historier 3 bidrager med stærk selvbevidsthed til tidens klimakritiske litteratur med en overordentlig sympatisk tekst, ‘Jorden taler til mennesket’, der er doseret perfekt med lige dele resignation og usentimentalitet, hør bare anslaget, hvor kloden henvender sig til os: ”Alt liv er så elskeligt. Bakterier, alger, svampe, planter og – efterhånden et godt stykke tid endnu – dyr.”
Jorden giver os en lavmælt reprimande for al vores plastic – ”Jeg skal nok nedbryde og fortynde og sprede det, selvfølgelig, men partiklerne består” – og taler høfligt ned til os med betydelig overbærenhed over vores manglende medfødte evner. Vi er nogle sjove, små aber, der logisk set ikke burde have en chance. Men vi kompenserer tusindfoldigt med vores opfindsomhed. Dog forventer jorden ikke, at vi er med, når livet engang vender tilbage efter den sjette masseudryddelse.
Peter Adolphsen excellerer som altid i mærkværdigheder med sin særlige og særprægede stil, som ofte efterlader mig i uforløst undren. Hans grønne aktivist tog derimod al min opmærksomhed.
