Jeg ringer til mine brødre kommer underligt forsinket til Danmark som et syvårsekko af den svenske udgave. Hvad stiller man op mod den stigmatisering, som ens hår- og hudfarve giver anledning til? Hvad gør man, når man til sidst selv kommer i tvivl om, hvorvidt man er gerningsmand eller ej? Amor ved jo godt, at han ikke er terrorist, men kan han nu også føle sig helt sikker, når han bærer alle de ydre kendetegn?

I Jonas Hassen Khemiris sitrende psykodrama lyder det sådan: ”Jeg ringer til mine brødre og hvisker: Okay. Jeg indrømmer. Det var mig/ Hvad mener du/ Det var mig der… Bilen. Eksplosionen./ Hvad snakker du om? Selvfølgelig var det ikke dig./ Jo, det var mig./ Men… nej, det var ikke dig. Vi ved at det ikke var dig./ Jo, det må ha været mig. Alt tyder på det. Det var mig. / Nej, lyt ikke til dig selv. Det var ikke dig./ Men det føles som om det var mig./ Men det var det ikke./ Er I sikre på det? Er I helt hundrede på at det ikke var mig?”

At føle sig skyldig i noget, man hverken har lod eller del i, bare fordi man nu engang ikke er blond og blåøjet som Medelsvensson, er racismens dybeste fare. Derfor gælder det om at falde i med mængden:

”Lige så snart I forlader hjemmet, ophører I med at være jer. Pludselig forvandles I til repræsentanter, og derfor er det af yderste vigtighed at I koncentrerer jer om at smelte ind. Jeg ringer til mine brødre rummer også et optryk af en kronik fra 2013, hvor Jonas Hassen Khemiri går i rette med den daværende justitsminister Beatrice Ask i en sag om politiets beføjelser overfor udlændinge uden gyldigt opholdsgrundlag. Han opfordrer ministeren til at bytte hudfarve for en dag, så hun på egen krop kan erfare den racisme, der findes i det svenske samfund. Også her spiller selvbebrejdelse og skyld en rolle: ”Vi begik fejlen at have en forbrydelsestilbøjelig hårfarve. Vi kunne have valgt at have lidt mindre melanin i huden. Vi var tilbøjelige til at have efternavne der mindede dette lille land om at det er en del af en større verden. Vi var unge. Alt ville selvfølgelig ændre sig så snart vi blev ældre.”

Som kulturdebat om racisme og de sorthåredes selvbebrejdelse er dette en interessant lille bog, men det er i forfatterskabets romaner, Jonas Hassen Khemiri for alvor viser sin litterære betydning.
